Having recently been to another dentist for my own issues, it was necessary to take my wife in for an urgent matter. I found the people to be very pleasant and informative. Compared to my experience in the other dentist office it was absolutely better. The assistant was informative and extremely helpful, and the Dr. came in an actually chatted a few minutes, making my wife and I very comfortable with him. It never occurred to me that I would look forward to going to the dentist. It's obvious that patients' needs and comfort are the priority in this practice. Thats how I feel when I go for my cleaning with Laurie and dental work with Dr Lane. Everyone is so welcoming and thoughtful. I was given an apology for a few minutes wait while the room was cleaned after the previous patient. How considerate! Dr Lane makes a connection that is easy and natural. He is extremely knowledgeable and patiently answers any questions. Laurie goes above and beyond to make sure you are well informed and supplied with all you need. Shes also a really lovely person. Very professional and personable. I had a dental emergency over the weekend. I called about 9 a.m., Monday, and they were able to fit me in before noon. I think I was in the treatment room a little over an hour. The issue involves custom parts made at a dentistry in Gainesville, FL, but Distinctive Dentistry had the right specialized tools to deal with it. More work needs to be done, so they were able to schedule me for an hour and a half at 8 a.m., Tuesday (the next day).

I may just visit for the vibe alone someday. 09/23 Review - I don't usually do reviews, but I've found my dentist and it's Distinctive Dentistry. I have been looking for a new dentist since mine retired a few years ago. I have been to dentists that were a rip off, dentists who seemed to always push vanity services at the expense of giving basic care, and dentists that over charge. How refreshing to find a practice that puts basic care first, is responsive when you call, is effective AND pleasant during the appointment, and gets the job done efficiency.

I woke up this morning to my 85 pd dog knocking over the bag that held my dentures and thinking he would try to chew them up. (EVERYTHING is chewable to him). He made the edges all sharp and jagged and I was unable to wear them without serious pain. I called Dr Zak’s office, as an established patient, to find out what I could do. They got me in within the hour (in between patients), and managed to salvage the dentures. I should have them back on Thursday afternoon. I can’t say ENOUGH amazing things about this office. The staff is INCREDIBLE, Dr Zak is the BEST, and I would give this place 5 Stars (plus bonus stars) any day you asked me!!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this dentist office!!!!

My appointment was for preparation of a molar for a crown. It went well. Dr. Zak injected ample medicine to deaden the tooth so that I felt nothing but heard the grinding, which did not take very long. The dental tech took more time to map the tooth for modeling a crown and to fit a temporary cap. Afterwards, the only soreness was the injection points, which disappeared by the morrow. This preparation was the best I have experienced, and I have a few crowns in my mouth done earlier by other practices. I really like the high-tech approach used by Distinctive Dentistry of Maitland and the care exercised by the staff. I am glad I listened to my wife and changed to this practice!

Today In absence of Dr. Zac who I normally have seen, I met and had the Extreme Opportunity and Blessing to meet and be cared for by Dr. Scott E. McCauley. Was worried about losing a tooth due to cavity but that never came into reality thanks to Dr. Scott who was as smooth and experienced as any Dentists I'd could have been in the presence of for Dental work. He and His assistant Julie had me smiling before, during and after my dental work was done, with my tooth which had a low gum line cavity looking brand new ! Hello! Since moving to Florida we have been searching for a caring dental practice and found it with Dr Lane and the entire staff! Wow. Honestly I really hate going to the dentist. It’s a completely irrational fear I’ve had since I was a kid so I always put off going to avoid the anxiety. But a friend told me about this place so I decided to go. I cannot express how nice and thoughtful the entire staff was. I’ve never had a dentist go into such detail with me about my teeth. He balanced what I’m doing correct while also delicately explaining some of the techniques Im doing wrong so I can improve my oral health. Dr. Lane and Tiffany spent an hour with me giving me a thorough breakdown and explained things that I didn’t even know at 38 years old. No other dentist I’ve ever been to has cared so much about informing me of what he was doing throughout the entire exam. I am so grateful I found this office. My hygienist was amazing too although I forgot her name. Just everyone and everything about this place made me feel at home and at ease. Let me start by saying I am religious about my dental care routine and am one of those weird people who enjoys going to the dentist! so I am demanding with the dental care I receive. Dr. Macauley made a set of fillings — what would have been a painful and prolonged procedure at past dentists I’ve visited — into a relatively painless and even fun experience. He talked with me at length, answered all of my questions, and provided reassurance before and after the procedure. Even though I don’t live locally anymore, he went out of his way to make me feel like an important patient and told me to follow up if I had any questions, concerns, or lingering symptoms. Distinctive Dentistry is a premier dental facility with dentists, hygienists and staff that do everything they can do to provide a visit that is positive in attitude, experience and outcome. Dr Lane and Tiffany did just that for me yesterday. It was the final appt of prepping for creating a bridge to replace two missing teeth. My bridge is complete. My smile is too. No complaints of fit or comfort though I was encouraged to call and return for any small adjustment. There is no one better! Dr. Nofsinger was my original dentist and he was the most gentle dentist that I have ever been in contact with. now I see Dr. Curley, and it’s almost like he and Dr. Nofsinger trained together. Dr. Lane and staff always provide excellent clinical care for me and my family. As soon as our children turned 18 they started seeing Dr. Lane. The treatment plans are always on point. Then after the briefest of waits, your hygienist or X-ray tech will walk you back into spotless facilities - where again, they know your name and have been with this practice for years. They take pride in making you feel comfortable, and as I am a high stress patient, their warm personal touch eases my anxiety. You can plan on getting in and out on-time, including a visit from the dentist who reviews your dental history, the X-rays and teeth. You can tell that the dentist respects the hygienist and seeks her opinion on your oral care and anything she has noted. It’s a team working on your behalf and their attitudes toward each other improves your overall experience. Lastly a follow up call today was handled competently and quickly, leaving me fully confident that my message would be handled properly. My wife might suggest that it takes a entire village to overcome my anxiety about going to the dentist but having a warm and caring professional dental team keeps me coming back.

I called after breaking a crown, to my surprise, they treated it like an emergency and gave me an appointment within 2 days, apologizing for not being able to see me next day. I am a senior who has never previously responded to a service providers request for a review. I do so because of the extraordinary treatment I received from Dr Tim Lane and his staff Several months ago I had the worst dental problem of a long life with the pain such that I could not eat (and that is a real problem for me!). I called Dr Lane's office late in the day and was given an appointment for lunchtime the next day. Dr Lane undertook the problem and took the extended time necessary to get me temporary relief. I left his office pain free. Although I clearly interrupted the schedule, I never felt I was a burden and was treated kindly and with respect. Dr Lane's staff then took over obtaining a timely appointment with a qualified specialist to do the necessary root canal procedure. This eliminated for me the often frustration process of scheduling a medical appointment. My tooth has been saved and the process just completed with the placement of a permanent crown. Throughout the entire process Dr Lane and his staff were extremely professional, personable and welcoming. While there are many competent medical professionals there are too few that treat both the problem and the person, as Dr Lane and his staff do.

A trusted friend who is well-connected to doctors in the community recommended Dr. Lane to my husband and I. (My husband had seen a dentist prior that we were concerned was overly aggressive and recommending treatments he didn't really need.) Dr. Lane was out sick so I saw a younger doctor named Dr. Zak, who was extremely friendly, seemed very knowledgeable, and explained my options in simple terms. They warned me that I would have to wait but actually they saw me very quickly once I was in the office. The entire experience was excellent and I'm glad to make this my new dental home. She hates stain so when she gets done with my 3 cups of coffee a day, red wined shadowed teeth they look so pretty-I just want to smile. Love Distinctive Dentistry! Used to be Dr. Nofsinger, Lane, Curley & Zak and had been at that time seeing Dr. Nofsinger and Dr. Lane. They are professional, caring, clean, and up to date with their medical services, knowledge and experience. Always had been timid with my dental and they always make me feel safe and comfortable. Would not go to anyone else. The times when I was going through other medical issues for the past 5 years-they were very sensitive and caring. They took extra caution and made sure I was medically on track to have my cleaning. My husband had knee surgery and they take the time to make sure he too is well prepared to have his cleaning. They would do the reminders and their scheduler knows what you need or ask about your status prior to coming in. This makes us the patient and the office prepared in advance. I can go on and on about their professional services and the team of doctors and everyone there. They are an extended family for us. Tom Hand, DDS, was my dentist for over 45 years, and I was well prepared not to ever find another dentist like him. Tim could easily be his younger brother, but I have not had time to check with ancestry.com. Real is all that matters to me. Affected Role, no matter how educated, can easily be found. I am double-blessed to be planning an all day surgery with Dr. Don Tillery and Tim in the near future. Well meaning friends question my judgment...'You could have the same work done for much less!' That's simply not true! This triangle, including a specialist from the lab who will join us for the surgery, is a perfect Trifecta! This week, I made the decision to find a dentist closer to where I live. I wanted the personal touch and to be called by my name and not just a person in the crowd. My husband has been raving about Distinctive Dentistry for years but I am loyal to a fault, so even though my first dental office closed, I went to their sister office. In the past year, the drive and non personal touches were not there like they were at the Maitland dentistry, so decided it was time to get closer to home. I am kicking myself for not moving over sooner to Distinctive Dentistry as these people are the real deal. They are personable and beyond fun, know your name, greet you as you come in, help you beyond what you might need and always with the mask smile and laughter that could calm anyone down, especially if you are in pain. I saw Dr Lane who spent an hour with me going over my chart, telling me what he was looking for in my mouth and giving me information as he poked around my mouth so I knew exactly what he was doing and why. I have never had such a thorough exam ever! Plus he has a great smile behind that mask. He was very professional and knowledgeable. Then there was what I was waiting for, the hygienist, as on the whole I have been having my teeth cleaned for 2-3 times each year for over 40 years due to a build up issue on my teeth. So I was very interested to see how we would get along. I need not have worried as Michelle was not only personable, but funny and we hit it off like best friends. She also took the time as she went through my mouth. checking out each tooth and told me where I needed to spend more time on my cleaning. Oh and you will NEVER forget your appointment, as they send you texts so you have no excuse not to come in and see them. Plus you will like the goodie bags they give out too. There is no way you will be in pain after you have been in that office with all those mask smiles and friendly people - so caring. Just sitting and listening in the lobby to the girls chatting with customers truly showed me that I picked the right dental office. They LOVE their patients.

I had a very pleasant experience from the day I first made my appointment. The office is set up very nicely to allow for social distancing. I was taken back, on time, by Tiffany. Tiffany actually sat and talked to me about my dental history and the reasons I was there. She offered some very helpful suggestions. I never once felt like she was rushing me or that she already had one foot out of the room to move on to the next patient. She took time to answer my questions and that really stood out for me because I honestly can't recall the last time I visited ANY doctor or dentist office where I wasn't frustrated because I was treated like just 'another number' and not an "actual " human. Then she said she was going to get Dr. Lane and pass the information on to him. WELL!! Here's the shocker! You know how you have to explain everything to the first person that brings you in to the room and then when the next person comes in, you have to explain the exact same thing all over again and possibly repeat it again for someone else? Well, this did not happen. Tiffany did tell Dr. Lane everything that we talked about and when he came in to talk to me, he knew exactly why I was there. I didn't have to repeat myself. Dr. Lane ALSO spent time answering my questions and never made me feel rushed. I left my appointment feeling like there was actually a treatment plan in place which was quite refreshing. I highly recommend this dental practice. I will return to them and, what's crazy is that I don't mind paying out of network prices to go to them because I honestly hate going to the dentist...but not this time!

Be warned, make sure to check with your dental insurance and make sure you are " in network", my husband and I found out the hard way and it cost us $400, when it would have cost us $ 0 with a " in network " dentist. I called to schedule appointments and asked if they took our insurance and they said yes. So I assumed they were in network and followed through with the appointments. My husband went first and he wasn't even charged when he left the office. However when I went a couple of weeks later I was asked to pay $400 for both of us. I was confused since they said that they take our insurance, so I asked to talk to the billing person she said that they take our insurance but are "out of network". I was still confused by the verbiage so I called my insurance company and they clarified that they do take the insurance but they do not "participate" making them out of network. This is extremely misleading and deceptive do to their lack of communication and not providing any upfront pricing. Aside from this issue the service from the staff and Dr Zak was great and well received. Its just sad that after such a great experience I felt tricked out of $400 dollars due to their lack of transparency. EDIT 3/15/2020: In response to Distinctive Dentistry's comment - " We strive to provide transparent information regarding each patient’s anticipated financial responsibility. We have many patients with PPO insurance, and as a rule we inform patients that we are not “in-network” providers, meaning they may be responsible for a fee." That is my issue with with the above comment. Nobody informed us that you were not in-network. I called for an appointment and informed attendant that my insurance had changed and then asked if it was accepted. The person on the phone enthusiastically said yes your facility accepted our insurance. I go to my appointment nobody charges me either before or after. This would confirm that either nobody ever called my insurance or that I was in-network. Weeks later I get a bill. Either staff was incompetent at the time or steps were missed. I just wanted to let it be known nobody informed us as a rule that your facility was not in-network

By far the most professional, organized, and knowledgable dentist office I've ever been to. Dr. Lane always takes his time to do things carefully and painlessly and never tries to sell me on unnecessary procedures. When I first went to see him, I had a couple of dentists insist I needed a crown on a particular tooth and he was able to fix it with just a filling (which is *WAY* less expensive). Becky expertly removed the crown, Tim drilled and filled the cavity, replaced the crown (which becky had expertly saved, saving me $$) and i was in and out of the office in one hour! If you happen to stumble upon this review because you're looking for a great new dentist, congratulations, your search is over! Friday night I was enjoying some holiday candy which pulled my crown right from its intended spot in my mouth! My wife had just started going to this office last year and gave them a call on my behalf to see what I should/could do until I could see a dentist. Dr. McCauley was willing to immediately see me or make himself available on a weekend even-though I wasn't even a patient at the time! This was a great "first impression" / introduction to this office but it was certainly NOT the first time candy pulled a crown from my face so I said I could just wait till Monday (Kids, candy is BAD - don't do it!!). Today (Monday), I went my appointment which they were able to squeeze me into and not only did I get my crown put back in but it was the best most enjoyable experience I've ever had at ANY dentist office. Now that my crown is back in, I can get back to eating those spice drops (don't tell Dr. McCauley or Anna) knowing they have my back! 😁

OMG, Dr. Zak is wonderful! He is warm and friendly. He explains what he is going to do and answers all questions. I had Crown replaced and it went so smooth from beginning to end. I felt no discomfort with the needle or during the procedure. When I left the office I never felt any pain after the numbness went away. It was a breeze! I had not been to a dentist for years. I was in need of some help with determining the best way to restore missing and damaged teeth. Upon my first visit I was greeted with a warm, smiling receptionist, I think her name was Becky. The dental assistant, Anna, and Dr. McCauley were extremely nice and caring, taking time to get to know me. The first time I went there was 15 years ago and I had a severe abscess on a front tooth it was getting ready to fall out. Even though I wasn't a patient and it was the day before Christmas they spent hours on that front tooth working to save it and they did. I have been going to this dental company since I was 12 years old. I'm now 58. They are always professional and do a good job. I inherited bad teeth and have had braces, gum disease, multiple crowns from cracking molars and also an implant over the years so I have spent a lot of time in dental chairs. The staff is very competent and a lot of people have been there for years which says something good about the management. They can be a little more expensive than large group dentists but you get what you pay for.

WOW!!!! My experience with this practice was simply amazing. First of all, the staff treated me more like a VIP than a patient. It was even my first visit. Every step of the new patient onboarding was a breeze, and they communicated very clearly what was happening during each step of my dental exam. Seeing my teeth on the screen in full color was a nice new perspective because they used a small camera to take photos of my teeth in great detail. I don’t ever recall having an examination of ANY kind where I was treated with such respect and patience. My comfort was top priority, both emotionally and physically. This was seriously inspiring. *The facility was very clean and detailed. *The employees obviously loved being there. * It was MUCH bigger inside than I would have guessed. *The view out of the garden window is from floor to ceiling if I remember correctly and set a very serene mood. She always goes above and beyond to make your experience comfortable. They are very accommodating to people that are nervous about going to the dentist. Dr. Zack listened to my concerns about getting numbed for a cavity fill. He was able to make my experience quick, and with minimal discomfort. The receptionist is always very kind and professional. I like the way they have quick communication using radios and a chat. I believe it makes the office run more efficiently. The office is always clean well-maintained and comfortable. I love the saltwater fish tank in the waiting area and in the exam areas, you can look out a pretty waterfall with all sorts of plants. Thanks for being so great guys.

Dr. Zak and the entire staff at LC&Z/Distinctive Dentistry on Maitland is phenomenal! Never have been big on going to the dentist but actually have enjoyed both of my recent visits. I have been going to this practice for many years. Even though I live considerably far from the office I will not go anywhere else. All of the staff are very kind, friendly, courteous and professional. My personal dental hygienist is Liz. She always treats me well and does an Amazing job as does anyone else who may be a fill in for me if Liz doesn’t have room on her schedule. My Dentist is Dr Curley and he is wonderful. The entire staff is highly trained and it shows in their work. Because of the extremely high standards this practice exhibits, I actually look forward to going to the dentist.

I love Dr. Lane. I was so afraid to go to a dentist after two horrible experiences back in Virginia Beach in 1971. When we moved to Orlando I found Dr. Nofsinger and he was wonderful. Along the way, I became a patient of Dr. Lane and he is wonderful. Just spent today getting a crown and Dr. Lane & his staff, Tiffany & Becky are just the best. LC&Z have been my dentist of choice for 14 years now. Liz has been my hygienist from day 1. I was never the biggest fan of going to the dentist. Since going to LC&Z I have never had any issues. The entire staff from the moment you walk in till the moment you leave are very courteous and caring. I highly recommend Liz. As a child I had a horrible experience with our family dentist. It was back in the 60s and my dentist did not use Novocain. Torture is the best word I can use to describe the experience. It has always been difficult for me to get up the courage to go to the dentist. I have, of course, been to other dentists in my lifetime, but I cannot say enough about Dr. Curley and Vanessa, and the staff at LC&Z. They are so wonderful. . . and made me feel at ease. Without hesitation, I would highly recommend this practice to anyone.

I deal with anxiety pretty bad, but coming here they have worked with me and made me feel comfortable. I recommend Mccauly, as that's who I see. But any of them would be good. I feel as if they genuinely care how you are doing in your personal life and most importantly the dental work they do. No half assing it. Highly recommended.

I love NLC&Z!!! I have been in the dental profession 13 years now & have worked at six different offices with 13 different dentist. I am proud to say Dr. Lane, Curley & Zak are by far the best when it comes to Patient care. They are also always thankfully and appreciate my hard work. I'm recently out of the office in Indiana helping care for my father who is fighting terminal stage four cancer. I first asked for three weeks off work, then I asked for 2 months off. Like most people I am not a big fan of going to the dentist. After moving to the Orlando area I needed to find a local dentist and tried 800-Dentist. BIG MISTAKE!!!! After sharing my bad experience with a coworker she referred me to her dentist which she had been going to for several years. Thanks Beth :) Any way I've been going now for a year and I couldn't be happier. I've referred them to several of my own friends and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a new dentist.
